Abu Dhabi, officially, is one of seven emirates forming the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the eastern Arabian Peninsula. "Abu Dhabi" often refers to the principal city of that emirate, sometimes referred to as "Abu Dhabi City" to differentiate it from the emirate.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, lies on an island in the Persian (Arab) Gulf, off the mainland. The skyline's new towers and shopping mega centers like Abu Dhabi and Marina malls reflect its emphasis on oil exports and commerce.
The modern Abu Dhabi emirate was established in 1971 with the establishment of the United Arab Emirates. It shares legal, political, military, and economic roles within a federal system with the other emirates, while each emirate has authority over certain roles such as the regulation of civil law, and the provision and maintenance of local institutions.
After Dubai, it is the largest emirate by area, and the second-largest by population, accounting for more than three-fourths of the entire federation. In Dubai, the possession of veto authority over sensitive matters of national significance in the UAE is one of only two emirates. Al Falah’s Al Nahyan branch is Abu Dhabi's ruling party, while Al Maktoum, Al Falasi's branch.
Together with foreign investment, the discovery of petroleum reserves in 1958 has made Abu Dhabi the world's third-highest GDP per capita, after Luxemburg and Norway. Rapid reform and internal growth followed while the leaders of the Emirates have implemented a strategy to assist other emerging emirates, Arab nations and developing nations in need.
Atmospheric backstreets paint a very different picture to Abu Dhabi's first impressions. The always sleek, new U.A.E. capital offers a fascinating mix of tradition and change. Tracing its rich past back to about 3000 B.C., Abu Dhabi retains a more Arabian feel than glittering Dubai.
Abu Dhabi boasts a remarkable food range. Splash on an Italian feast at Roberto's – one of TripAdvisor's top-rated restaurants in town, or opt for a more casual burger while watching the sunset at Cabana Bar & Grill's vibey beachfront.
When you're on holiday, car rental is a huge problem. It would be one of the biggest expenditures that can quickly put a dent in your budget while traveling and making mistakes when renting a car.
If you're traveling for business or leisure it doesn't matter, renting a car gives you the freedom to go anywhere in your time and there's no chance of missing your meeting or a bad public transport system.
For many passengers, renting a car at the airport is the most convenient way to arrange a rental car and in certain situations, due to the limited rental fleet or time constraint, you have no other choice. You should be aware, however, that renting airport cars is typically more costly than other pick-up car rental places. Some airports charge up to 35 percent tax on your rental car.
